16 Weeks - It's A Boy!

As of Wednesday, I am 16 weeks. A friend of a friend is an ultrasound tech and has a portable machine, so David and I went to her house on Wednesday night and she determined that our baby was a boy. While I've always imagined a house full of little girls, I'm getting used to the idea of having little boys. Ethan is so precious and if this one is half as sweet as he is, we hope to have more kids...and maybe one day I'll have a little girl.

And now everyone is asking what we will name this little boy. We don't know for sure yet! I LOVE the name Noah. That was one of our options for Ethan when we were thinking of names, but David is not set on that yet. I also like "Austin" as a middle name. That is my cousin's name and he lived with us for a while and was kind of like another brother, so I would love to give this little boy that as a middle name. We have some time to think about it though!

14 Weeks!

I'm 14 weeks pregnant today! Things are really starting to move along. I'll try to get hubby to take a picture of me this week! Some exciting news. First of all, I felt the baby move on Monday night. It lasted for nearly 45 minutes. I've felt little things here and there, but since I'm still so early, I shrugged it off as digestion. But Monday there was NO DOUBT! The baby was doing back flips in my belly! Now, a 4 inch baby doing back flips still doesn't make that much of an impact, so I could only feel it when I was lying on my back, laying perfectly still. It was so amazing!!! This is 3 weeks sooner than when I felt Ethan move.

And more exciting news!!! We are going to find out in 2 weeks if this little one is a boy or a girl!!! We had planned on going to Fetal Moments...a place that does 3D and 4D ultrasounds. This is where we went when I was pregnant with Ethan. The problem is that it costs $110 and really we just want to know what it is. The pictures aren't very good at this stage as the baby is still very underdeveloped. So I called my friend that cuts my hair (who is also pregnant). She has a friend who is an ultrasound tech and has a portable ultrasound machine. She is going to do our ultrasound for free to tell us if the baby is a boy or a girl! YAY!!! I am so excited! It's just another step in bonding and connecting with this little one. She is also going to give us a disc with all the pics on it so I'll be able to post them.

11 Weeks Today!

I'm so glad to be nearing the end of the first trimester and to be out of the "danger zone". I'm feeling great and baby seems to be doing great. I'm so excited about what the next 6 weeks will bring! My belly will really start to grow, I'll be able to feel the baby move, and of course, we will get to know if this little one is a boy or a girl! The second trimester is probably my favorite!!! I've been asked A LOT if I prefer a boy or a girl this time around. I think most women hope to have a daughter one day, and yes, I would love for this little one to be a little girl. But I'm totally excited if it's a boy too because I think it will be really neat for Ethan to have a little brother. David and I are also pretty certain that we will try for a third baby and so either sex is fine with us. I just can't wait to know so we can start thinking more about names and decorating the room and all of that fun stuff!

I'm still debating about whether I will have a caesarean or a VBAC. I am really starting to lean towards trying to have a VBAC. It's just a matter of getting my husband on board with that. After the 14 hours of hard labor I went through last time, then the emergency c-section, he REALLY doesn't want me to risk going through that again. I'm just afraid that a planned c-section could decrease our chances of having a third child. There's still a lot of risks either way, but we have some time to make a decision. I just want what is best for this little one.

First Ultrasound!!! Baby's First "Hello!"

We had the first ultrasound (and first appointment) today and it was great! And yes...there's only ONE baby in there!!! Hee hee. I have to say I was relieved. And it's not because twins wouldn't be a blessing...because they would, but twins are always a higher risk pregnancy and that scares me because of my past miscarriages. So I was very happy to see my one little peanut in there. I saw the beating heart and asked how fast it was beating. She said, "164". Ethan's was "165" at his first ultrasound. As soon as she turned the sound on and I heard it's little heartbeat, the tears came flowing down. I was so relieved and just so....happy!!! I just kept saying, "Thank you, Jesus". My wonderful hubby took a little video of the ultrasound, but I have to borrow a card reader from Angela so I can post it. It will be up later tonight! For now, here are 3 pics of our little butterbean. The first pic is probably the most detailed. You can see the head and body a little clearer.

7 Weeks Pregnant

I'm 7 weeks now and doing great. I've started to be a little nauseous and I'm still very tired. The prometrium I am taking is making the normal pregnancy symptoms twice as bad. I'm not sleeping well at all and I constantly feel dehydrated. I drink a LOT of water throughout the day. I'm ok with all the symptoms though because that just means the baby is doing great and is healthy! I still have nearly 2 weeks before my ultrasound. It can't come soon enough!

6 weeks, 1 day

Exhaustion has set in. Thank God that morning sickness has not. I started getting sick at 5 weeks with Ethan, so maybe this pregnancy will be different. I still have this fear that I will go to the ultrasound in a few weeks and something will be wrong or there won't be a heartbeat. I fear this because of my past miscarriages, but as a friend reminded me, most pregnant women have this fear. We're women. We worry. But I know that God is in control!
