The Big 3-0!!!

It's official. I'm 30. I hit the big 3-0 on Friday. I can't believe it, but it's true. Friday some of my family and friends threw me a surprise get-together at Dave & Buster's. We had a great time and I was surprised to see my parents in town. I thanked everyone for the great evening. Little did I know that this was just the "decoy surprise party". The next day our friends, Dewayne and Brandi said they wanted to take me to lunch for my birthday. Saturday evening we had a special dinner planned for the volunteers at our church, so David said before we could go to lunch we need to pick up some stuff that we needed for the dinner from one of our church member's homes. When we got there, Brandi had to use the restroom so we walked around to the back of our friend's house and then..."SURPRISE!" Party #2...the "real party". It was a Luau-themed party and as soon as I saw everyone I scanned the crowd for a friend of mine who I had really been missing...my dear friend, Katie. And she was there! I couldn't believe it and it brought tears to my eyes. She lives close to the Georgia-Florida line and I just haven't seen her in a really long time. A lot of our family was there from out of town and several friends from church. We had a great time and they really went all out with 2 big Honey-baked hams and all kinds of great foods. My friend Trista from Sugar & Spice Sweets made the cake of course!

It was delicious!!! My favorite...chocolate-chocolate chip!
Didn't Trista do an amazing job???

Thank you to my sweet hubby, my big brother, Jason and my sis-in-law, Esther for all of your hard work in putting this together for me!!! Thanks also to my parents, Brien & Hannah, Burt & Joy, Trista, and everyone else who helped out with this!!! I had a great 30th birthday!!!

In other news, please be praying for my brother and my sis-in-law. They got some difficult news yesterday regarding their journey to become parents. You can read Esther's blog about it HERE.

One Big Mess

I thought about taking a picture of just one room in my house to post on here to show you all why I haven't posted much lately, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. My house is a disaster. No really....it is. I used to be one of those people that other people hated because my house was always in perfect order....spotless. I have been called "OCD" more than once. But right now if a person with really messy tendencies came to my house, they would be appalled! It's really been in a state of disaster for a few months now and I just can't seem to catch up. It is really starting to stress me out. I come home from work and I do laundry (lots of laundry), I clean the dishes (but those are really things that have to be done daily), cook dinner and then I just simply can't ignore my 4-year old who needs time with his Mommy to play Legos or Thomas the Train or read a story. Before I know it, it's time for him to take a bath, put on his pj's, brush his teeth, read a story, tuck him in bed, give three kisses and say goodnight. And of course David needs my attention after he has worked a long day. Then I'm just exhausted and it's time for me to go to bed and do it all over again tomorrow. Let's not even talk about how long it has been since my bathrooms have been cleaned. Ugh.

Can I get an AMEN?

I'm not jealous at all of you stay-at-home moms....nope, not one little bit.

Ok....maybe just a little....or a lot. Ok, I'm totally jealous.

I'm really thinking about taking off an entire week of work. Not for fun, not for vacation, but just to get our house and our lives in order. It's all making me feel like a bad wife, a bad mom, and a REALLY bad housekeeper.

Ok, so I've spent enough time on here talking about my messy house....time for some more cleaning!

Another Goodbye

Will you please take some time today to pray for this family? http://declansjourney.com/ After 5 months of this sweet baby battling cancer, Declan has gone to be with the Lord. His first birthday (and his twin brother's) is next Thursday. Please pray for comfort for this family. I hope that they will remember that this life will be over so soon and we will be with our Father in Heaven and with our children FOREVER.

Ethan starts Pre-K

I can't believe it! I officially have a child in school! It's so crazy how fast my sweet boy is growing up. Ethan is going to Pre-K at the same school where he has been in daycare since he was a year old. He LOVES his new teachers and is very excited about getting to play on the "bigger" playground!

Ethan's 1st day of Pre-K (this past Thursday)

They aren't allowed to have backpacks in Pre-K (I didn't know this until the orientation the night before), but he got to carry his supplies in to school the first day with his Mario backpack.

On Friday we both got a haircut!
I was thinking of becoming a brunette, but the professional talked me out of it! :o) I'm glad she did because then I might not look as much like Ethan's Mommy!

Ethan's new hairdo makes him look so much older. My little boy is growing up!
Looking more and more like his Daddy every day...
